Rhys becomes a shades-wearing mattress

When Rhys ponders “What is furniture?”, Tom Cashman reads the definition of furniture as “The moveable articles that are used to make a room or building suitable for living or working in.”

After Rhys asks Tom if he has a collection of anything that he would like to store, Tom shares that he used to collect business cards, when he was a child. Rhys claims that this is the grimmest thing they have ever heard.

While preparing their attempt, Rhys then asks Tom if it is giving him the same type of thrill that his business cards did. Tom responds “I don’t think I felt that thrill, until I put all 640 in the bin.”

In the studio, Tom asks Tom Gleeson if he would like to know more about his business card collection, but Rhys attempts to stop him, saying “Don’t. I’ve done this.” However, after Tom Gleeson says that he needs more information, Lesser Tom explains that he kept his business card collection in a photo album, separated into sections, with his favourites in one section, and then the second-tier business cards.

Tom goes on to say that, at the age of eight, he’d asked his dad if he thought he had the biggest collection of business cards in the world, but that his dad said there were probably more business cards thrown into containers for prize draws, at some of the conferences he attended.

When Tom reveals that this is why he’d decided to put his collection in the bin, Aaron asks “Even the A-tier ones?”, and Tom admits that he’d actually kept those. The whole story prompts Concetta to describe Tom as being like Norman Bates from the movie Psycho.

Back at Rhys’ attempt, Tom re-enters the study wearing a pink towelling dressing gown, yawning and stretching, before pulling back the sheets on the bed which is positioned on the floor in the middle of the room. Tom then moves one of the three pillows at the head of the bed, revealing Rhys’ face, wearing sunglasses.

Rhys encourages Tom to climb into the bed, and then tells him to “Look at my cool sunglasses.” When Tom comments that they are quite stylish, Rhys agrees that “I’m very stylish.”

Rhys then begins to sing Tom a lullaby, which includes the lyrics “Rock-a-bye Tommy, in the functional and stylish bed…”

When Tom then announces that he’s ready to get up again, Rhys performs as the alarm, saying “Wake up Tom! Wake up. It’s time to get up, Tom. Out of bed.”

In the studio, Tom Gleeson comments that Rhys had looked like the underside of a massage table, with their face poked through the hole in the mattress. He also agrees that they did look stylish, and was the only one who put in in any effort at all, by simply putting on “some cool sunnies”.

Rhys wins the task and earns 5 points.
